I wanted to write a beautiful moment for GRAN GRAN. I wanted to write something epic and magnificent and at the end, I came up with this. Gran Gran, I love you. There is no amount of words that can express the magnitude of what she meant to me or our community. There is a hole left on so many varying levels. There is an emptiness that exists that must be filled. To sit and mourn is appropriate but to sit and do nothing is exactly against the wishes of Gran Gran. I have never seen a woman push with the enthusiasm of an 18 year old to encourage others in poetry. She was open to all forms: formal, written, spoken, business, and slam. She never condemned any and accepted all. I challenge everyone reading this to get busy. Get up and start. For GRAN GRAN no amount of words will ever do. So I simply say: THANK-YOU. I'm remembering you right now til the end of my time.
